How to read the NFL standings
The NFL standings above are grouped by division. Each conference has four divisions, and the team at the top of each division is in line to win it. Tap Full to see every column, or stay on Simple for a quick look on your phone.
Teams are ranked by winning percentage (PCT). A tie counts as half a win. When two teams have the same record, the NFL uses a set order of tiebreakers, starting with head-to-head results. The table already applies the basic ones, so the order you see is the current order.
The dashed line in the conference view marks the playoff cutoff. Seven teams from each conference make the playoffs: the four division winners plus the three best remaining teams as wild cards. Anyone above the line is in today, anyone below is chasing.
What each column means
W, L, T are wins, losses and ties. PCT is winning percentage. GB is games behind the division leader, so 0.5 means one result away.
HOME and AWAY split the record by venue. DIV is the record against division rivals and CONF is the record inside the conference. Both matter for tiebreakers late in the season.
PF and PA are points scored and allowed. DIFF is the gap between them. A big positive number usually means the record is real, a big negative one means the team may be living on close wins.
STRK is the current streak, so W3 is three straight wins. L5 is the record over the last five games. NEXT shows the next opponent and date, with @ meaning an away game.
When are the NFL standings updated?
This page refreshes automatically after every game, including Thursday, Sunday, Monday and any holiday slots. The timestamp under the table shows the last update in your local time. Small arrows next to a team’s rank show whether it moved up or down since the last set of games.

NFL standings FAQ
How many teams make the NFL playoffs?
Fourteen. Seven from the AFC and seven from the NFC. Each conference sends its four division winners and three wild card teams. Only the No. 1 seed gets a first round bye.
How are NFL standings decided when teams are tied?
Head-to-head record comes first. After that the league looks at division record, record in common games, conference record, strength of victory and strength of schedule, in that order. Ties inside a division are settled before wild card ties.
What does PCT mean in NFL standings?
Winning percentage. It is wins divided by games played, with a tie counted as half a win. A 10-6-1 team has a PCT of .618.
Can a wild card team have a better record than a division winner?
Yes. Division winners are always seeded 1 to 4 no matter their record. A 12-5 wild card team can be seeded below a 9-8 division champion and has to play on the road.
What is a first round bye?
The top seed in each conference skips the Wild Card round and waits for the lowest remaining seed in the Divisional round. Since 2020 only one team per conference gets a bye.
When does the NFL regular season end?
The 2026 regular season runs 18 weeks with each team playing 17 games and one bye week. Week 18 wraps up in early January, and the playoffs start the following weekend.

What do the arrows next to a team mean?
An up arrow means the team climbed in the rankings since the last games were played. A down arrow means it dropped. No arrow means it held its spot.
